This page explains how shipping costs are calculated on the ShippinX platform, so you can understand every charge shown in the quotation. Prices on the quotation page are calculated in real time from your shipment details; the final amount is subject to the order confirmation.
Each service quote consists of two parts:
Total fee = major freight + all surcharges (quoted in RMB ¥). On the quotation list, hover over a price to see the name, description and amount of each surcharge item.
For each package, the chargeable weight is the greater of the actual weight and the volumetric weight:
For example, a package of 60 × 40 × 40 cm weighing 10 kg has a volumetric weight of 60 × 40 × 40 ÷ 6000 = 16 kg, so it is charged at 16 kg.
For express last-mile services, a minimum chargeable weight per piece and a minimum chargeable weight per shipment may apply: if the calculated weight is below the minimum, it is billed at the minimum standard.
Major freight = chargeable weight × unit rate. Each service has multiple rate bands (e.g., 0–21 kg, 21–45 kg, 45–100 kg, etc.). The system automatically matches the band according to the total chargeable weight of your shipment; the more you ship, the lower the per-kilogram cost generally becomes.
The weight rule of each service is shown in the "Requirements" column of the quotation list. If the total chargeable weight falls outside the service's carriage range, the service is marked unavailable with the specific reason.
| Surcharge | Trigger | Basis |
|---|---|---|
| Overweight surcharge | Package chargeable weight exceeds the overweight threshold set by the service | Fixed amount per range, as configured |
| Oversize surcharge | Longest or second-longest side of a package exceeds the configured range | Fixed amount per range, as configured |
| Over-girth surcharge | Girth (longest side + 2 × second-longest side + 2 × shortest side) exceeds the configured range | Fixed amount per range, as configured |
| Remote area surcharge | Destination postal code of an express last-mile service falls in a UPS/FedEx remote area | Unit rate × chargeable weight |
| Magnetic inspection surcharge | Air freight shipment containing magnetic materials (inspection required) | Per piece, with a minimum charge |
| Extra product name surcharge | Number of declared product names exceeds the free allowance of the service | Fixed amount per additional product name |
| Residential address surcharge | Delivery address is a residential address | Fixed amount, as configured |
| Commodity inspection / epidemic prevention / irregular shape surcharges | Goods subject to inspection requirements, epidemic prevention requirements, or irregular shapes | Per service configuration |
| Separate customs declaration surcharge | Goods are declared separately (independent filing) | Per type, as configured |
Not every surcharge applies to every shipment. Whether a surcharge is charged and its exact amount are determined by the real-time calculation and the order confirmation. Some services also display a fixed surcharge note next to the price — please read it as well.
Import duties, taxes and customs-related charges depend on the customs clearance type of the selected service:
In all cases, any fines and losses resulting from declarations that do not match the actual goods, prohibited items or non-compliant cargo are for the account of the consignor.
